I teach striving readers who have failed the one grade level state reading and writing exam. One of my main goals during the school year is to get my students reading and learning from their reading. By creating a safe and comfortable space for my students to read in our classroom, I am hoping to promote literacy, acquisition of knowledge, and acceptance. I have great novels and short stories for them to read and no real good place to put them. My vision is to have bookshelves full of books that students can borrow, read and explore. The rug will add the warmth to the reading area.
