We introduced the Ten80 Challenge for our middle school students for the first time this year. We need to give our STEM students an opportunity to learn engineering concepts through first hand experience.
Data-driven design will be made possible with engineering notebooks to track revisions and batteries and other equipment to run trials. This involves isolating variables and running trials to find the best vehicle configuration for a race. Many little pieces will lead to one successful program!
Trial and error can sometimes mean a lot of error but that's where the best learning happens. Spare parts will help us through those learning experiences. The scientific method, creativity, and teamwork will contribute to a successful engineering program. Go STEM.
