My students work hard each day to learn and grow at school. Many of my students are struggling readers. Personally, I love to read. One of my biggest goals is to help my students to develop a love of reading. We need books that students are interested in. They want to read the same popular books they see their classmates reading. Our classroom library could use an upgrade. It would be wonderful to add some popular series that my students have shown interest in to our library.
We are also working to instill a growth mindset for our students. Books are some of the best ways to introduce and talk about different concepts. We do have a couple of books that we currently use in our classroom, but it would be great to purchase a few more. Growth mindset helps our students to learn that it is okay to make mistakes, that brains can exercise and grow, and that they are capable of doing hard things. These are valuable lessons for all students, but especially for struggling learners.
Lastly, it's always nice to be able to take a break and have some fun! It's even better when games involve learning! Our class is in need of some new games and activities for those times we need to take a break. Thank you for supporting my students!
