The goal of my program is to give students the coping skills needed to deal with the impact of trauma. Giving students the materials and the space needed to de-escalate when frustrated with allow them to calm themselves and re-enter the classroom ready to learn. Presenting children with a variety of materials (tent, swing, trampoline, books, sand) will meet the needs of children with different learning styles. The materials selected will provide comfort (tent, books, smaller sensory items), as well as allow for high energy outbursts (carpet, balance ball maze), and will be available to all students in the school.
