In my classroom I would love to have a large area rug for all of the students to meet in the morning. It would be a great gathering place to learn. In my room I have a lot of active learners. In order to foster the learning style of these movers and shakers I need lots of different options for them to learn. I would love to give them options like yoga balls, squishy cushion to sit on, and a futon to read on.
The idea is to create a more comfortable environment that helps students be their best learning selves. The reason flexible seating is so beneficial is because being comfortable somehow allows the student to stay vested in the task, and their behavior is equally positive. They are willing to work with others, share ideas and move around the room.
