I am seeking new tables for my math classroom. The tables I would love to have are whiteboard surfaces so that students can work in their table groups to collaborate, problem solve and represent their mathematical thinking symbolically in small groups.
In my TINY basement classroom of 32 students, we have 8 tables and squeeze cozily into our assigned space. These new whiteboard tables will allow for students to work in small groups to express their understanding without tripping over their peers' backpacks to get to the small whiteboard at the front of the room.
I have found that student participation increases when they are given a marker and asked to do work on a white board! When the whiteboard is the table- and the group can engage and connect to solve complex math problems together, learning is exciting!
