The laptop that I am requesting for my first-grade students and I will be a big help with our virtual teaching and learning. Virtual learning requires a lot of high quality, engaging, and innovative platforms, apps, websites, and other programs. First graders need to be kept engaged and interested when learning in the classroom and online. Unfortunately, I am teaching virtually on a very old laptop that is not ideal for the latest trends in online learning and activities. I am unable to do all the "fancy" things on my current laptop. I have a class of 28 first graders and half of them are ESOL students from around the world. First graders (especially students learning English) need a lot of colorful visuals, interactive games and lessons, and programs that will keep their attention and help them learn. Having an old computer limits my teaching because I don't have the latest technology to do really cool things with my virtual lessons. I want the absolute best for my students because that is what they deserve!
