Our students need hands-on learning to complement their conventional studies in Environmental, Earth, Agriculture, Life, and other Sciences. There is a palpable itch in all of my science classrooms that can only be scratched by not only a hands-on learning experience, but one that involves building and projects that have genuine, positive, real life applications.
Nothing would resonate with more positivity among the sons and daughters of blue collar, agricultural families than working with native and local materials to build and create items that further cultivate their birthright passion for applied Environmental and Agricultural Science.
Bluebird and duck boxes; bat, bee, and butterfly houses; traditional ice fishing decoys and jigs, but to name a few, would be crafted from timbers cut from our very own campus/community forest. In order to do so, we need benches, tools, and storage solutions. Donations to this project will help teachers connect with students by creating opportunities for our school community to truly dovetail with the heritage, passions, and occupations of the very families that define it.
