Reading is a skill we all use daily. This past summer I started studying the Science of Reading and was amazed by the understanding it has given me in teaching phonemic awareness and phonics. I am currently furthering my education by taking the LETRS training to become a better reading teacher. Students are struggling now more than ever with the gaps all students have due to Covid-19. All students high, average and below average all have gaps. These tools I have asked for will help with closing the reading gap. The use of magnetic letters will help build letter identification skills, letter sound correspondence and phonics skills. Decodable readers, class books help build confidence in struggling readers.
