This year we are taking 70 5th grade students to Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, MN. This 3 day trip is life changing as it allows inner-city students the chance to leave the city and participate in the "wilderness" Students will be exposed to nature, animals, sounds, and experiences that can't be replicated in the city. Other students who have been on similar trips say it is the highlight of their school year. Our students need to see what "wild nature" is like first hand. It is our belief that if students experience nature first-hand, they will eventually become stewards of the environment. It is also our belief that if students are immersed in nature, it will allow them to learn about the environment much beyond the scope of what an indoor classroom will allow. This trip will create life-long memories and learning for our students. A component of this trip will be team building and focus on developing social-emotional skills.
