In our 5th and 6th grade combination class we are always reading a different whole class novel along with the 5th graders reading their own novel together, and the 6th graders are also reading their own novel together. Since these students are part of this GATE like class, they are accustomed to reading a lot, and reading quickly. So, coming into the class these students have already read so many books. These students are very motivated and enthused about reading new, different, and rigorous types of books, so finding available books to read as a class is a challenge. By donating to our project you will not only supply our class with new books to read, but you are also giving these students the opportunity to do what they love while challenging them to dig deeper into comprehending what they are reading and applying it to their own lives with books they can connect to. The books that we have read as a class are books that have been left to the school over the years, or books that I have bought myself. For us to continue to push forward and read not only these books of rigor, but books of interest, we would love and greatly appreciate the whole class book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the 5th grade book Out of My Mind, and the 6th grade book Red Pyramid. Anything that is donated will be greatly appreciated and we look forward to sharing our new ideas, knowledge, and excitement from these books with you!
