Getting middle school students can be a challenge, it is important to have books that they can connect to. I want to continue to expand my classroom library for students, getting books that are relevant to their lives. I want to inspire them not only to read, but to make something out of their lives. The books in this project will get the students thinking about the choices they make and what they can do differently to be successful in life.
The phrase, "curl up with a good book" came to mind as I was thinking about what I could do to get my students more engaged in reading. Having an area within my classroom where students can literally "curl up with a good book" is what I am working to create with my beanbag chairs. Not only can they go there to read a book, but they can also use this area to calm down while in the classroom.
