Every book purchased for this project goes directly in our library shelves. New titles are always prominently displayed at the front of the library, and students have access to borrowing all day, every day.
Every book we can add to our library helps us tackle our outdated, underfunded collection. As it stands, the average publication date of our titles is 1991 (30 years old!) and has an average reading level 3 years below our youngest student. We only have the funding to purchase 9 new books per year, which will never let us meet the growing interests and needs of our students.
This project aims to update and diversify our collection, and keep our kids reading.
