Students in first grade are expected to sit for long periods of time. The students in my class are learning from 8:40AM until 4PM. Much of that time is in the rug area or at their tables. When a student is feeling antsy he or she begins to move around and can interrupt their own or a classmates learning. Students also shift around on the rug and over time end up pressed up against one another in a corner of the rug. Wobble cushions and fidget tools will help my students self-regulate and maintain focus throughout lessons while defining each child's personal space.
