My students love to explore, design and create. Access to the Cubelets will be a much needed part of their invention and robotics design thinking challenges. The hands-on tech challenges will allow them to learn about the engineering design process, require them to use higher level thinking skills and invite them to become better problem solvers. Many of my students are also learning to write code. The Cubelets will provide them with the opportunity to explore coding even further. They will be part of our Khan Cadets coding club, which is facilitated by a group of sixth grade girls and future Hour Of Code weeks. The books will be part of our STEAM/Design challenges. In these times of limited funding, these items will be valuable tools to keep my high ability students engaged in learning.
The joy of learning lies in meeting challenges, discovering new territory and gaining knowledge through experience; with the addition of these materials, my diverse group of students will be provided with invaluable 21st-century learning experiences. The addition of these learning tools will provide over 100 students with STEAM and Design thinking challenges. My students come from such diverse backgrounds. Having these items will allow them to explore and engage in areas of math and science learning that they otherwise may not have had the opportunity to do.
