Most students are reading a year or more below grade level. As a result, they require more individualized attention. My goal this year is to provide additional reading support. The objective is to get struggling readers to not only read, but to like it. By supporting this project, you are giving my students an opportunity to read short, high interest, non-fiction articles. These Choices and TIME For Kids magazines will not only provide interesting stories but also pictures to go along with them.
Research has shown that when young children are given access to informational texts, there is a positive impact on their comprehension skills, and a love for reading develops as they get older.
Many of my students do not currently have access to these types of texts, but with your support, they will!
