Many of our children today fail to receive a minimum of 60 minutes of daily physical activity. We see our children's body grow into unhealthy state of minds which effects long term healthy living norms. While many children do not get to experience sporting clubs or be physically active outside of school, we must have students move as much as possible while in PE.
With the installment of white boards into my classroom, I believe the white boards can assist motivating children to become more physically active. At the beginning of each school year, our school performs the Fitness Gram Health Assessment. This assessment calculates students cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Our test scores in the cardiovascular endurance have increased over the years but we lack in increasing our other areas. By placing the top performers of each assessment on the white boards, I truly believe it will help motivate students in all grade levels to be able to become an overall healthier individual. By simply telling and showing other top students scores, it can bring a sense of competitiveness into our children to becoming better fit individuals as they would like their name to be recognized on our wall.
