TIME for Kids will get our 1st grade students excited to read about current events and a great variety of other non-fiction topics! This magazine will expose them to different types of reading beyond leveled readers and picture books. Every week each student will receive his or her personal copy of TIME for Kids to keep! We will read the copies together in school, then students will keep them in their individual folders for a week so they can reread their copies during "Read to Self" time. The magazines will be read again when students take them home to share with their families. I am also requesting 10 Spanish language Scholastic magazines for my ESL students.
Your donation to this project will give my students their very first own magazine subscription! I'm so excited to introduce them to current events with an easy-to-read, colorful, relevant news magazine that will get them excited about reading non-fiction.
