Due to low test scores response to intervention is embedded in our schedule in order to close achievement gaps. Each student must score proficient or better on reading, math and science county wide assessments. There are various computer based programs that were purchased by the school to assist. However, we only have one computer in our classroom that is used to share presentations and videos with the whole class. It is difficult to rotate students on technology during critical instruction when it ties directly to instruction.
Every student is required to have at least 60-90 minutes weekly on each of the programs to enhance their understanding of concepts. We no longer have access to a computer cart due to the computers on board not functioning. With the four laptops we can have a consistent schedule in place to ensure each student get their time fulfilled. Moreover, they will do the much needed research for science for reports and team projects.
