I want to help my students form a club and business repairing cell phones in our community. We are surrounded by a network of schools with hundreds of broken screens, old batteries, and missing buttons. The students will need to raise capital through sales and build an inventory, and will be responsible for learning how to make more and more complex repairs. By starting a cell phone repair business, my students will learn about technology, commerce, and collaboration through a subject they are all interested in. This club and business will develop leadership, business savvy, money management, technology familiarity, spatial awareness, problem solving, and collaboration.
