Our students are life changers, and we want them to realize it about themselves. There are about 100 female scholars in eighth grade, and we have the space to accommodate more than half of them for a girls' overnight sleepover in our library at school.
During this event, we will help facilitate activities to teach our young women a variety of positive programming, including conflict resolution, self-esteem and self-worth, independence, female bonding and friendship, and leadership. By hosting 55 girls, we hope this will have huge effects on the well-being and togetherness of our 8th grade girls.
We will be creating a type of "friendship bracelet" in which girls must give beads to another girl who inspired them that night to add to their bracelet. We will also be tie-dying shirts together to all wear to school the following school morning. Snacks, feminine hygiene products, and extra sleeping bags are to make the girls feel safe & secure.
