My students desire to learn is amazing. However, their ability to focus on a specific task while sitting at a standard desk is making it difficult for them. Many students who have not been identified as having special education needs or requiring accommodations may be still experience sensory processing issues. Although I have already began to incorporate many sensory strategies throughout my classroom, my students needs are far beyond what I am able to provide on my own. Many of my students will benefit from the wiggle seats and the exercise ball chairs. The stools will be used for my standing tables to provide students the choice to sit if needed throughout the day.
With the use of the alternative seating in my classroom, I am hoping that I will meet the unique needs of each child. I hope to increase the attention of my students and promote self-regulation, leading to improved classroom behavior and academic performance.
