These different types of seating styles that I want to implement in my classroom will be used daily as both a fun treat and a learning tool. Almost all of my students suffer from ADD, ADHD, sensory overload or Autism. These seats will be life changing for them. It will be a way for them to feel cozy and safe while getting out their wiggles or sensory seeking behaviors, in a non distracting way.
This will improve their learning by making them more excited to do their work because they are comfortable. It will also improve their learning by taking away the extra time it takes for them to have movement breaks. They will not be so focused on their need to move because these different types of seats will allow them to move around and get the sensory input they need.
For example, instead of kicking one another, (or me) by swinging their legs, they will be able to use the bouncy band to push on or kick. The yoga ball, seat cushion, and wobble stool will allow them to move around while doing their work in a comfortable way.
