I teach 9th through 12th grade in an alternative high school setting. I teach World History, US History, my state history, and Government. I emphasize civic education with the idea of my students become active participants in their community. My students often volunteer for community service projects. My students are at risk children who learn by concrete methods of instruction and other student centered methods. Often times I have to come up with methods that are “outside of the box” in order for my students to be excited and engaged in the learning process.
