In Social Studies as we study the various places in the world we use maps on a regular basis. I print maps constantly for my students to practice with in order to become more proficient. I also print notes as my middle school students learn to be better note takers.
The lack of a printer in my classroom hinders my students learning. Not having that simple tool keeps me from quickly giving them materials. Sometimes I have to wait to give students extra examples to practice just because I can't print it in my classroom. Other times it's just needing to give an alternative to a student who does not get it the first time.
I had a printer last year, and I did not realize how critically helpful it was until it died. I was hoping the school would replace it when I told them it needed replacement. Unfortunately, I was told that no classroom printers would be placed going forward.
