Our school is a diverse, Title I school located in an inner-city community. We strive to provide a rigorous, culturally relevant, standards based curriculum for our students. Writing across the curriculum is one of our major goals but sometimes that becomes difficult when our resources start to deplete or technology isn't readily available. Research based learning is so valuable and with 21st century tools we can achieve it.
The teaching of technology skills is so vital to prepare our students for the 21st century workforce. They love to use our computer cart but we get to use it so seldom that they couldn't possibly learn everything they need to know in that time. Most don't own computers or have internet access in their homes either. Having our own class tablets will change the way I teach for the better and provide them with more opportunities to become more competitive 21st century citizens.
