I am asking for an iPad mini with a case, a set of 4 headphones, and sets of leveled books. My students will be using the iPad mini and headphones as a listening station to listen to stories and increase their level of reading comprehension and print awareness. They will be able to scan qr codes of books I currently have on tape that are no longer working. I will create qr codes of myself reading the books so that my students can listen to stories and increase their knowledge in multiple areas including phonological awareness and vocabulary. I will also use leveled books to do the same thing, helping bridge the gap to reading on their own. The listening center will also help my students be able to identify key elements of a story including setting, characters, and main events.
Using modern technology will help my students prepare for the future. They are always excited to use anything with technology, and I believe that when you combine this love with reading there will be phenomenal results.
My current listening station is an old tape player with headphones that do not work. There are some tapes that work, but most are broken or get caught when they are played because they are so old.
Please help my students prepare themselves for the future and become the readers of tomorrow.
