We are equipping a Makerspace to support our work in providing meaningful, hands-on project based educational experiences for our 150 alternative education high school students. The Makerspace will allow our students to develop collaboration and communication skills, become more proficient problem-solvers, and learn to be resilient as they brainstorm, design, and create. We believe these skills allow our students to be better prepared for employment opportunities as they gain experience using industry-standard tools. Our Makerspace is currently equipped with only a few tools, and we hope to offer students more choices in tools and equipment such as hand tools, basic power tools and crafting goods as they design their own learning projects.
