Having hands-on learning in math and science is proven to help students stay engaged and retain newly learned concepts.
My students would greatly benefit from having access to math and science materials at all times. I am requesting two crates per group (12 total) to act like a shelf next to their desks to hold materials. On the crates will be organized manipulatives in 22 labeled containers for easy access and great learning. Right now most materials are stored away in cabinets in random tubs or containers. Whenever I have a lesson planned with manipulatives I have to take extra time to prepare and separate the materials so that they are ready for groups and then put them away at the end of each lesson.
Often times my students who struggle with math need hands-on materials for every lesson. Having the materials right there would help those students have access whenever they feel they need extra support.
