Bilingual carpets act as secondary reinforcement for students who are learning foreign languages, in their case, English. Having bilingual school carpets give my students a fun introduction to languages. My Spanish speaking students can learn English and my English speaking, such as myself can learn Spanish. This new carpet will my give students comfort in knowing our class is a nurturing and safe place for them to learn, communicate and express their feelings and to create an environment where all students are able to strive. I believe this carpet will promote and increase peer interaction and learning in a positive way. Students will learn the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, and animals. This carpet will provide support for students who are shy and reluctant to speak in class. Students will be able to gather on the new carpet each day with a greeting, participating in a group activities and share interest and grow. It is my hope that by using these carpets as a tool for instruction in the classroom, student can take what they have learned at school and share with their families. Being able to "be the teacher" at home will give my students ownership of what they have learned and show the parents how much they enjoy learning.
