My students would benefit from having painting easels in our classroom for a variety of reasons. Painting provides serenity and comfort. It ignites imagination and fosters growth in all curriculum areas including written and oral language. Painting with storytelling provides young learners with a strong sense of pride and accomplishment for their unique expressions.
Putting language barriers aside, I long for my students to be able to pick up a paint brush and be able to tell me something through art and for them to feel good about that. I want my students to know that they can take ownership in their learning artistically.
