First grade is an important year for young learners! Students are developing a love for learning. Having access to Scholastic Magazine and Time for Kids will be engaging and interesting for students to learn from. These reading materials will be excellent for instruction in the classroom. Students can practice all the aspects of learning to read - reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, and even writing. These are also great resources for students to learn about Science and Social Studies topics. Best of all, they are appropriate for first-grade readers!
These resources will also be outstanding for students to have something to read at home. Many students do not have access to reading materials when they leave school. After being used in the classroom for instruction I plan to send them home so that students may review them with their families. This will reinforce the home-school connection that is so important for all students.
