This year in my classroom I want to experiment with flexible seating. Research shows that kids learn more and are more focused when they can move while they learn. By having these different seating options in my classroom, it will allow the kids to take charge of their own learning.
Flexible seating not only keeps the kids engaged, it can burn calories and improve their posture. I want to introduce wobble chairs, floor pillows and stability cushions into my classroom. Wobble chairs will allow those kids who can seem to sit still the opportunity to wiggle while they work. The floor pillows will allow the kids to have comfortable place to read and write. I hope that the stability cushions will give my kids that have sensory needs the opportunity to have that sensory feedback that helps them focus better while learning. These items, when implemented into the classroom, will keep the kids engaged, excited and more productive when working!
Flexible seating will benefit all students in my classroom this year!
