My students are very social, active individuals. They learn best by talking through their problems. This is especially important since most of my students are English language learners. In addition, since many of my students are living in poverty, affording these supplies on their own would be a hardship for many of them. Your donation will provide "collaborative learning kits" for each group of 3-5 students in my class. These kits will contain materials and supplies that will make learning a collaborative and interactive experience for all of my students. Each kit will include colored pencils and pens for organizing thoughts, sticky notes for planning solutions and organizing thoughts, and rulers for drawing straighter lines. They will also include a folder for each group in each class to keep reference materials as well as projects that they might be working on, dry erase markers for presenting solutions to the class, and a pencil box for organizing the smaller materials. In addition, the kits will contain relevant textbooks, workbooks, my students' notebooks, extra paper, and pencils. All of these materials will be kept in a sturdy clear plastic file box at each group's station for easy access.
