Today more than ever, students need access to current and engaging information. Because of Covid-19, students are re-learning to engage both socially and intellectually. Outdated and worn books contribute to the feeling that the student is not essential. The 2004 Nystrom Atlas of World History has been a fantastic resource, but it is now woefully outdated. We currently do not even have enough for each student to use. Many of the maps in this older version are also outdated as borders and boundaries worldwide continue to change. The Nystrom Atlas of World History is not a simple book of maps. Broken into ten chronological units, the Atlas of World History uses maps, charts, and graphs to teach about cause and effect across the historical eras in the 6th Grade Social Studies Core Curriculum. They are rich in information, challenging academic vocabulary, and present information through maps, charts, graphs, and infographics. The Nystrom Atlas of World History is engaging and helps students develop critical thinking skills by encouraging academic connections with everyday life. These books will not only help our 300 students this year but will help many more in the years to come.
