Everyday I discuss the jobs of real engineers with my students. I show them videos of engineers at work. I give them engineering challenges to complete using cheap and easily accessible materials. They enjoy these challenges, but I am often asked why we can't use "real" materials. Why can't we?
Your generous donation will bring our projects to life. A 3D printer will give my students a "real" engineering experience. They will use CAD to design an object and will actually be able to produce a concrete prototype. This will not only keep my students engaged in class, but hopefully it will motivate them to pursue a STEM career in the future. I can see the excitement in their eyes already.
