Many of our students live in shelters or in conditions that are very difficult and chaotic. A classroom setting is key to a meaningful learning environment. When they come to school each day it's very important that the classroom is organized, bright, inviting and stocked with materials accessible to them.
The rugs will provide a cozy area for morning meeting, independent reading time, and small group work with the use of the roll away easel. The fidget toys will soothe students who feel anxiety or have difficulty focusing. The colorful stools allow students to have flexible seating around the tables for small group work and student/teacher conferencing. Headphones will provide a quiet environment when they are working on technology based assignments. Bins and baskets will be organized with reading and writing materials (markers, colored, pencils, and crayons).
I want my students to wake up each morning excited to go to school because it provides them with a feeling of security and a feeling that they have a space to call their own. We all work better when our environment is organized and inviting. Our surroundings can truly affect how we think and feel. My students will benefit greatly from these classroom additions and your donations will be greatly appreciated.
