Using an app called ClassDojo my students will be connecting to their families by sharing pictures and information they learned at school. Students will be able to upload pictures, post notes, and create a digital portfolio of what they do at school so they can share it with their families at home.
We are building our home to school connection by creating online portfolios to help students include their families into their daily learning at school. This project is very engaging for students as they decide what to take pictures of and what information they want to post about things they have learned at school to share with their families at home. Using ClassDojo students create their own, private, digital portfolio.
The reason why I am requesting Kindles is that my students do not currently have access to technology to help them create their online portfolios. I choose Kindles because they are easy to use, have the video and picture capabilities for my students, have a long usage life (I have owned the same Kindle for over 8 years), and are more cost effective then an iPad or Windows Tablet. Getting these materials will help my students become independent, be able to show pride in their accomplishments, and connect their families to their everyday life at school.
