I am a first grade teacher in a Title 1 school in Maryland. 99 percent of my students receive free and reduced lunch. A majority of my students come to school on a daily basis without any school supplies-including a backpack. I would love to be able to provide my students with their own back packs so they are able to take home books and other learning projects. They are only six and seven years old and many lack the parental concern and support needed to prepare them for a successful education.
