Block printing with linoleum will give my students exposure to new art materials and help them understand the printing process. Students will be able to better understand how some famous artworks were made. We will closely study works by Matisse and Pablo Picasso. We will also explore linocuts in art illustration. While designing, we will learn about art compositions, space, shapes, contrast, balance and unity in art. Students will choose one of these themes: animal, flowers, abstract art or portrait. For many students this would be the first time to learn about print making and art that can be massively reproduced. We need linoleum, linoleum cutters and brayers.
