Students in ninth grade physical education courses will use pedometers to keep track of number of steps and calories burned. Each student will be assigned a pedometer to use during daily physical education class and will maintain a log of steps each day. The log will be collected once a week to chart overall number of steps and improvement over the length of the course. In addition, students will calculate calories burned during physical activity. The overall goal is to promote physical activity and encourage students to remain physical active even after completion of physical education course in ninth grade.
