Gray matters. We all need to activate our brains for maximal learning and retention and movement is the key to that activation. My classroom is a small portable, so there is not much room for movement of growing 5th graders. Having flexible seating options like stools that wobble or chairs that rock will provide opportunities for movement in a distraction free way, so the emphasis can stay on kids being focused for learning. Wobble stools can be used at a desk, as well as, be easily moved around the room for collaborative work. The rocking chairs can also be used for a calming effect when kids engines are running too high.
