My students will use these iPads during our daily workstation time so that they can practice their literacy and math skills. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home, and the ones who do have access tend to use them for non-educational games. I want my students to know that technology is a tool that we can use to become better readers and problem solvers. The iPads have many apps that can be differentiated based on the student's needs. They can use apps to practice specific skills they are struggling with in both reading and math. The iPads will benefit my students by motivating them to improve their learning.
We currently use my personal iPad in our classroom. Having an additional 2 devices to add to our workstation rotation will reach many more of my students. It is important for my students to have access to educational technology as early as possible. Technology will be a part of their lives forever. Incorporating daily access to technology in the classroom will help my students succeed in both literacy and math, while also preparing them for success in the future.
