As technology evolves I feel that it is my role as a classroom teacher to provide meaningful experiences to enhance their digital literacy. The laptops and printer will provide my students the opportunity to work on many activities in the classroom that will improve their technological skills. These laptops will provide additional computers to our classroom. This will help give more of my student’s access to complete their online classwork and district programs that target their individual needs.
We employ a real world financial simulator that requires students to pay their bills, balance their finances, contribute to a 401k, and make a variety of financial choices. This simulator requires daily internet access and these computers will help students have more access during the school day. In addition our students will create a variety of projects dealing with personal budgeting, auto financing, money management, banking basics, and even finding a place to live. The printer will provide my students the opportunity to print their work so that I can display it in class. This will help inspire them as they see their final product printed and displayed.
In addition, our school district is moving towards adopting electronic textbooks for our students. These laptops will provide students increased access to their textbooks online.
