Kids dealing with adverse effects of poverty & trauma need ways to calm their bodies and express feelings in safe spaces--what better way than the arts?
Our Therapeutic Arts Program provides individual, small group, in-class, and after school experiences that offer students creative outlets and healthy coping skills, help them understand themselves and others, and build positive relationships--student to student and student to staff. We use a range of art forms including drawing, painting, creative writing, sculpting, photography, drama, movement and music.
We find that students involved in creative activities and therapeutic arts processes have more safe coping skills and motivation to make it through their daily challenges, are more likely to succeed in school, and are more connected to the staff and school community--often assuming leadership roles with peers. Your support makes that possible!
