These ukuleles will be used by all Washington Irving students, kindergarten through third grade, to add a modern band component to our current curriculum. We will use ukulele resources from Little Kids Rock, which will help students be immediately successful playing current music that captures their interest and keeps them excited about music.
Ukuleles are a perfect fit for our young students' smaller frames and hand size. Students will be developing gross and fine motor skills while they enjoy making music. Playing with others will help increase listening skills, and following instrument procedures will encourage positive behavior choices.
The opportunity to play fun music with their classmates will help give our students confidence and a greater sense of belonging. Thank you so much for helping our budding rock stars get started!
