My second grade students are excited to read! Reading is like any other skill- the more you practice the better you become.
I'd like to help my students have access to a wide variety of books to make them excited about reading.
My students are given time each day to read independently. With a wide selection of books in our classroom library, students will be able to choose books that interest them. They get excited about finding the next book in a favorite series or reading the books their friends are talking about. I want to be sure I am able to help provide these types of books for them.
This project will also provide a place to store and display anchor charts that we make together in the classroom. An anchor chart is a tool used to support instruction. As I teach a lesson, we create a chart together that captures the key aspects of our lesson. This is then displayed in the classroom and students are able to refer back to it when additional support is needed.
