Being in a healthcare industry it is imperative to train what will be used on a daily basis. Many of the patients/residents that we care for are transported via a wheelchair. Currently in the classroom, we have one functioning wheelchair that is used for approximately 15-20 students at any given time. It is a requirement by state testing that we train students in wheelchair safety. One of our current wheelchairs's brakes are held together with tape. Students will get a variety of use of this equipment in the lab, it is an ongoing process to teach and ensure safety for healthcare.
