I am a special education teacher with students who require a different approach when understanding the world they live in. I want to provide my students with a sensory room to use when they need the extra support. Some of the materials from this wish list will provide a calming, relaxing, and visual sensory experience. This is to help an over-stimulated, anxious, or depressed student. The motor sensory experience will come from the movement equipment, weighted blankets, and fidget toys. I teach a diverse group of students, so having a variety of materials will be essential for my project.
By creating a sensory room, my students will have a safe place to learn about the world they live in through their senses. Sensory Processing Disorder affects many individuals, and these people need the right tools and materials to be successful in their learning environment. My hope is that my students get to experience a thoughtful and meaningful sensory room.
