The materials I am requesting will be used during my literacy and math rotations. They will be used to help teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fact fluency and character traits, along with the basic first grade literacy and math standards. Each week, we will use 1 to 2 specifically chosen books to help us focus on our theme (character trait) of the week. Examples of character traits are: tolerance, bravery, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. Working together is the key to loving each other. Students will bring their own opinions, ideas, and behaviors to their groups and will have to learn how to accept and tolerate their differences in order to work together. As the students continue to learn how to share, respect each others opinions, and work together, I hope their bonds will grow stronger. These lessons and books will help to build a stronger community and a better future for all of them.
